I am really impressed with Ted: Ideas worth spreading and I enjoyed speeches like this one by Richard St. John where he explains what the secret of success is. I found these talks very inspiring indeed. It may be used as a listening exercise for ESL students but also just for helping us to keep going, to better ourselves or understand our world a little better and try to make a difference – why not?. There are talks about almost any topic such as global issues, technology, culture, science, etc.

I would like to talk about conceptual maps. I think it’s a wonderful tool to learn new ideas, concepts, facts, etc, as well as a extraordinary way to express yourself very plainly and visually. Conceptual maps help us to represent the concept and focus on the relationships between the main concepts and ideas rather than losing yourself in the details. No wonder they are used in so many areas, contexts and circumstances, they are used in schools, universities, business, corporations and organizations as useful tools for discussing, sharing and collaborating.

I love Scribd. It’s a place where you can publish, discover and discuss original writings and documents.
It’s an incredible resource from an educational point of view, an open window to a new world full of creativity and knowlege.
Learn English while you are having fun
We are not going to live for ever, are we? That is a good reason why you should try to spend a good time while you are learning English as a second language.
Why don’t you check these out? Comedy Central and the Monty Python Channel on YouTube. Here is a video that I find particulary funny and it’s easy to understand for non native English speakers.

I think learning should be fun. An enjoyable way to learn is listening to music. Nowadays you have many options, such as:
- YouTube.
- Musica.COM. Videos in English and Spanish with lyrics.
- Morkol. Just the same as Musica.COM.
- yappr.com.
The easiest way to improve your listening is BBC Learning English, News English. They have the news available in both audio and text format, so you can follow the text if you have difficulty understanding what is being said.
You may also watch the news on BBC, NPR, 30 Minutes Lunch Break.com or listening to BBC World Service. The last link provides you access not only to BBC World Service but also to more BBC radio stations.
